I have thought a lot about this post (not that it will be read all over the world-i'm not that famous, but because i have stopped my english lessons and i haven't spoken the language for some time).Well,i wanted to write something different and not just another movie review. Spark of my inspiration became the film "the pursuit of happiness". It was nominated for several awards and I must say that Will Smith is simply awsome!Don't miss it..

The question I have been thinking a lot lately is what is happiness and how can we become happy? Is it a good relationship that can give me this feeling? Could it be having good friends? A good relationship with my family? Or is it simply the sense of wholeness when everything is going fine which is when I don't have something to worry about?

A friend of mine once told me that we should feel happy only for being! We live without noticing we are alive, we are sure we will exist the next day and the next one and so on. Discussing this subject with all my classmates during our Philosofy class I realised that we should be happy that we have been given the chance to live and communicate other people sharing our thoughts and expressing our ideas. We should be thankful we have been born in advanced communities, where clean water and food are taken for granted.

We should be really thankful that we don't die from deseases such as cholera or other illnesses and that we are given the chance to be educated and pursue progress in our life!

So, don't complain all the time!Live your life as you want and if you trully believe in something it will become true even if it is seems impossible. Fate is in your hands!

NEVER GIVE UP YOUR DREAMS!Take risks and you won't regret it..

I wanted to share these thoughts with you because everyday I see ungrateful people. Ungrateful of what they had been given the day they first breathed. Don't forget that we have the chance to live only once and believe me, life is too small!The only thing we should worry about is our health. Did you know that stress can cause cancer?

Reading this post you might think "What the hell is she talking about?How should we not worry when we work all these hours and still our future is uncertain?". The answer is that we have to have hope. Everyone knows that the world's economics are going worse day after day but when we realise what the real meaning of life is, then we can be considered happy....

Μαμά βγήκα με τους φίλους μου.
Πήγα σε ένα πάρτυ και θυμήθηκα αυτό που μου είχες πει, να μην
πιω αλκοόλ.
Μου είχες ζητήσει να μην πιω επειδή θα έπρεπε να οδηγήσω μετά,
έτσι ήπια ένα αναψυκτικό. Ήμουν περήφανη για μένα, γιατί είχα
ακούσει αυτό που τόσο γλυκά με είχες συμβουλεύσει πριν φύγω, να μην πιω αν πρέπει
να οδηγήσω, σε αντίθεση με αυτό που μου έλεγαν οι φίλοι μου.
Έκανα τη σωστή επιλογή! Η συμβουλή σου ήταν η σωστή.
Όταν το πάρτυ τελείωσε όλοι μπήκαν στα αυτοκίνητά τους χωρίς να είναι
σε θέση να οδηγήσουν. Εγώ πήρα το αμάξι μου. Ήμουν σίγουρη ότι
ήμουν καθαρή.
Δεν μπορούσα να φανταστώ μαμά αυτό που με περίμενε .....
Τώρα είμαι εδώ ξαπλωμένη στην άσφαλτο και ακούω έναν αστυνομικό να
λέει «το παιδί που προκάλεσε το δυστύχημα ήταν μεθυσμένο».
Μαμά η φωνή του ακούγεται τόσο μακρυνή.
Το αίμα μου είναι παντού στην άσφαλτο και εγώ προσπαθώ με όλες μου τις δυνάμεις να μην κλάψω.
Ακούω τους γιατρούς να λένε ότι αυτή η κοπέλα δεν θα τα
καταφέρει.
Είμαι σίγουρη ότι το άλλο παιδί που οδηγούσε δεν το είχε καν
φανταστεί όταν έτρεχε τόσο πολύ.
Στο τέλος, αυτός είχε αποφασίσει να πιει και εγώ τώρα πρέπει να
πεθάνω.
Γιατί το κάνουν αυτό μαμά? Αφού ξέρουν ότι θα καταστρέψουν ζωές?
Ο πόνος που νιώθω είναι σαν να με καρφώνουν χιλιάδες μαχαίρια.
Πες στην αδερφή μου να μην φοβηθεί, στον μπαμπά να είναι δυνατός.
Κάποιος έπρεπε να πει σε αυτό το παιδί ότι δεν έπρεπε να πιει αν
θα οδηγούσε.
Ίσως αν του το έλεγαν οι δικοί του όπως έκανες εσύ, τώρα να ήμουν
ζωντανή .....
Η ανάσα μου γίνεται όλο και πιο αδύνατη και αρχίζω να φοβάμαι
μαμά..
Αυτές είναι οι τελευταίες μου στιγμές και είμαι τόσο απελπισμένη.
Θα ήθελα τόσο να σε αγκαλιάσω μαμά....και να σου πω πόσο σε αγαπάω
Σε αγαπάω μαμά....αντίο!!!

Αυτές οι λέξεις γράφτηκαν από μια δημοσιογράφο που ήταν παρούσα σε
ένα δυστύχημα.
Η κοπέλα ενώ πέθαινε ψυθίριζε αυτές τις λεξεις και η δημοσιογράφος
τις έγραφε σοκαρισμένη.
Η ίδια δημοσιογράφος άρχισε μια εκστρατεία εναντίον της οδήγησης
υπό την επήρρεια Αλκοόλ.

Mum, my breath becomes more and more weak and I'm getting scared.

These words were written by a reporter that was present during an accident.
The girl was whispering these words while dying and the reporter was writting them shocked.
The same reporter started a campaign against driving under the influence of alcohol.

the brave one

Directed by Neil Jordan, The Brave One has become the best action-drama movie I have ever seen. It was released in 2007 and became immediately one of the movies that you had to see. It was only nominated for a Golden Globe, but this definitely doesn't mean it was awful. The main characters are played by Jodie Foster and Terrence Howard.

The plot is not that original. Jodie Foster is Erika Bain, a 30 year old woman working in a radio station, who is very soon to get married. One day she goes on a walk with her fiance and they are attacked by a gang in a park. As a result her boyfriend is killed and she is bitten until she passes out. When she recovers and finds out about her beloved's death she is totally shocked in the first place. After that she takes the law into her hands and buys a gun seeking for revenge. Will she be able to become the woman she had been before the attack or she will for ever be a stranger to herself? Watch this incredible film to find out.

What I trully loved in this film was Jodie Foster's acting. She was totally under the skin of her character, Erica. You were able to see the despair and anger in her eyes. She was just aussume. Of course, it would be a shame if we didn't mention Terrence Howard,who played the cap that helps Erica mentally and practically. Another thing I liked was the music. It wasn't original, but at least it suited the scenes very well. I shall also mention the directing, which I think made the movie that interesting and believable. As for the plot, well it wasn't something new, it was the same old story, but still this story has become a classic.

I shall recommend it mainly to adults and definitely not to children or young teenagers, because some scenes are very violent nad brutal. On the other hand if you love action movies, thrillers and lot of drama this is the perfect movie for you. So, enjoy!

bridget jones the edge of reason

Three years after Bridget Jones's diary the sequel came out in theaters. Bridget Jones: The edge of reason is as clever and funny as the first one and was nominated for several awards.
. Renee Zellweger accompanied by Hugh Grant and Colin Firth is once again outstanding.

In this movie we find Bridget in a relationship with Mark. The situation is that Bridget feeling insecure because of her extra weight messes up every time they go out with other lawyers and they break up. Feeling sad and lonely she accepts a work with her hot ex-boyfriend in Tayland. When there she is accused for drug dealing and ends up in jail.

I actually kind of liked it. The plot wasn't as good as it was in the first movie but it still had funny moments. Who I like most was Renee Zellweger who got into the flesh of it. I loved the way she was embarassing herself; she did it in a so amusing way!Hugh Grant was also good as the sexy ex. Lastly I liked a lot Colin Firth in the role of cute Mark who loves Bridget no matter what her physical condition was.

Finally I should recommend it to all. It's romantic, it's funny, it's clever,actually it can make your day!

HARRY POTTER and the goblet of fire (book VS movie)

When a best seller becomes a film everyone wonders whether it will be better or worse than the original work. The same thing happened when Harry Potter books became movies. Recently, I read and watched the 4th one and I must say I found both similarities and differences.

Well, the main differences had to do with the plot,as many parts of the book weren't put in the film, i suppose because of the time limit;you cannot expect a 500-pages book to fit in a 3-hour movie with every single detail. But the gaps were so well hidden that only the readers could tell the difference, something that reveals the quality of the film.

On the other hand I must say I was very impressed, because even if I had seen and liked the previous films, I was concerned about that one as things get more complicated;we have more characters and more ation. Watching it I realised I was wrong to worry as it was so good as the book. The music, and the excellent sets were fascinating and made me feel just like I felt during reading.

The trouth is that no matter how much I liked the movie, I shouldn't try to compare it with the book as reading lets you create a world with your imagination. On the other hand I have to admit that the movie was amazingly good!

GREGORY'S GIRL

Gregory's girl is Scottish movie that was filmed in 1982 and has won one BAFTA award and some others. But don't be impressed because it isn't as good as you might think. Gordon John Sinclair plays Ggregory and Dee Hepburn Dorothy. Thankfully it lasts only 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The plot has to do with a teenage boy, Gregory, that plays in his school's football team as a goalkeeper but is not good at all. Then, there is an odition for new players and eventually a girl joins the team. Gregory falls for her and asks her out but then she doesn't come to the date and he goes for a walk with other girls and then it finishes.

That is what happens in the film. As you can see the story doesn't end. I mean I would prefer it to be longer but have a plot that would make sense. On the other hand it is very boring with only one or two funny moments but this is still not enough. As for the acting I can't judge the actors because I think that the script is very bad written and the characters are dreadful. I don't know if it was the scottish accent or the bad movie quality but as you might have noticed I didn't like it.

Finally I don't recommend it to anyone because you won't like it either. The only people who can enjoy it are those who are reminded of when they were at this age. And take my advice and never watch a film whose trailer doesn't give you an idea of the story.

doctor zhivago

Directed by David Lean, "Doctor Zhivago" is an epic movie based on Pasternak's novel. It was filmed in Russia, Spain, Finland and Canada in 1965 and although it is long -it lasts 3 hours- it impressed me as I don't expect old movies to be so good. The movie won many awards including 5 oscars,and was nominated for more.

The plot is set in the 1950's when the General Yevgraf Zhivago (Alec Guinness) narrates his brother's life story to a girl to find out if she's his niece. The story mainly is that Yuri Zhivago(Omar Sharif), famous poet and doctor, despite the fact he is married, falls in love with a revolutionare's wife during the Russian Revolution. This woman's name is Anna Antipova(Julie Christie). Will they overcome all the problems and will they eventually live happily ever after? Watch the film to find out.

As I mentioned before, I was a bit impressed as I didn't expect a so old movie to be that good. The movie was about the Russian Revolution and I must say that when it had to do with war it seemed real due to the special effects. Also, the acting was amazing as Omar Sharif, who's really handsome by the way, and Julie Christie got under the skin of it. I should also mention the music created by Maurice Jarre that suited every scene absolutely perfect and was the main reason I liked so much the film. Lastly it would be a shame of me not to talk about the plot and I feel I should congratulate not only the novel writer who's job was amusing, but also those who made it a film.

The only thing I didn't like was that it lasted hours and hours and somewhere in the middle it became boring.

So I do recommend it to adults but not to children because I'm sure they will find it boring. As for you that have decided to watch it, follow my advice and take a break in the middle so that you will be able to enjoy the other half that is the best part of the whole movie.

I actually learned about them from a friend! Their songs make me feel GOOD but I cannot explain why. It might be because I feel very close to them while I'm listening.

4th place: LINKIN PARK
Their songs touch my heart but also make me feel exilarated at the same time. Listening to their songs can make you cry and jump around the room at the same time!This is why I chose them in my top 5 rock bands..

3rd place: Radiohead
When I listen to their songs they take me to another place. They make me create a story in my head.The story of a guy who's drinking and has stop thinking of his problems..And this is the magic!

2nd place: Muse
I love them.....Their songs are like a magnet, I can listen to a particular song for hours.

Dear Nafsika,

It’s been 2 month since we last talked on the phone. How are you doing? Is school still the same as it was when I left it? Here things are going well,but I miss you all very much. So,I’m writing to you to tell you about an animated movie I watched last Saturday that I thought you might enjoy. It’s called “Robots” and was created by…… Actors performing the characters’ voices are Halle Berry and Tom Cruise.

Imagine a world where, instead of humans, there are robots. In this robot world, we see how an 18 year old ambitious inventor decides to see the big lights and go to the capital city to follow his dream. Going there might seem very easy for the young robot but for the first time in his life he realises that world is not a peaceful place.I don’t want to spoil it for you so just watch it,it’s very interesting.

I liked it very much. Even though it was animated, it had a deeper meaning. Watching it I realised that you have to follow your dreams even if it’s very hard and that you should never stop believing in yourself and your abilities. The music was very well suited and the acting was very good as well. Also the animation was amazing; I mean, robots really seemed like real humans. The scene I loved was the one where the baby is born in the beginning and the other one where the main character uses transportation. You’ll understand what I’m talking about when you watch it.

So I totally recommend you to watch it because you'll have fun. Actually your brother can watch it too. When you have time please call me. I look forward!

Based on the great novel by Victor Hugo,"Les miserables" is a movie that will keep your attention till the last minute and won't become boring at all even if it's quite long:it lasts three hours.Some of those who star in it include Gerard Depardieu,,John Malkovich,Charlotte Gainsbourg and others.

The story is set in France during the French Revolution when Jean Valjean,an ex-convict who was arrested for stealing a loaf of bread completes his sentence,tries to start a new life.He becomes wealthy and tries to help others, especially the poor.One of them is Fantine who dies and this is when Jean decides to raise her daughter.But problems never end,as the first class inspector,Javert(John Malkovich), that had arrested him the first time still hunts for Jean because to him you can never trust an ex-convict.Will he be caught for the second time and go to prison?And will Valjean succeed in raising up a young girl?What about the Revolution?The only way to find out is to watch the film.

In the begining I wasn't so exhilarated about it,because I thought it wouldn't be so good,but when I saw it I loved it.It wasn't only the story that made me excited about it.It was a combination of perfect acting, very well-suited music and amazing scenery.As for the actors I was really amazed especially by Gerard Departieu and Malkovich who got under the skin of it.Also what I found clever was that the movie was separated into two parts so that you could take a break in the middle or whatever.Lastly, I can say I agree with all those who have said that it was a stunning adaption of the novel,because those who wrote the script put everything in from the novel.Although it was long if you watched both two parts in a row,I think it was perfect.

Finally, it would be a shame of me not to recommend it to you.So I do recommend it without any doubt;the only thing you should take care of is not to be tired when you watch it and be concentrated on the film,because you might lose very important parts.Also I must say that it's not so appropriate for children and young teenagers as it is based on a classic novel.So,after all these pieces of advice,have fun!

RADIOHEAD

Radiohead is an English band that started selling their songs in a different way.For this they don’t need a recording company;they just record the song in a studio and they put it on the internet.But the weird thing with this is that you pay what you want,even if this is only 20cents or less.Is this a clever way of selling songs and if it is is what are the disadvantages?

In my opinion,it was really smart of them to sell their songs without a recording company getting involved.As we all now,the artists are payed only a small percentage of what we give to buy a cd and the rest of it goes to the company.So if we think more about it, this band’s members make much more money than they would if Sony or Emi sold their cd’s.Also they seem to go with the flow as in our days the majority of teenagers buy songs or download them from the internet.

Also, it’s better for the ones that buy it because you can give what you want to buy a song and solves the problem of many of us,especially teenagers,that don’t have so much money to buy all the cd’s they want to listen to.

Another advantage for the ambitious is that this way of recording and putting your songs on the internet can be done by anyone if you have the right equipment of course.You can show your talent and promote yourself through the web and make money at the same time.This is why I do think it’s very democratic,because everyone can do it.

On the other hand we can say it kills, in a way, professional music as all those who want to become singers even if they don’t have the talent for it will be able to record and sell songs.Of course this is what some recording companies do now but if the new selling system wins the companies this will become uncontrollable.Also if the companies close lots of people working there will become unemployed.

In conclusion, I think that this new selling system without a money limit will become increasingly popular and more bands and singers will start using it.So I do think that Radiohead’s idea is original and will have success in the future..

Candaules,Gyges and his wife(Herodotus)

THE STORY

Candaules conceived a passion for his own wife, and thought she was the most beautiful woman on earth. To this fancy of his there was an unexpected sequel.

In the king's bodyguard was a fellow he particularly liked whose name was Gyges, son of Dascylus. With him Candaules not only discussed his most important business, but even used to make him listen to his eulogies of his wife's beauty.

One day the king said to Gyges: "It appears you don't believe me when I tell you how lovely my wife is. Well, a man always believes his eyes better than his ears; so do as I tell you - contrive to see her naked."

Gyges gave a cry of horror. "Master," he said, "what an improper suggestion! Do you tell me to look at the queen when she has no clothes on? No, no: 'off with her shirt, off with her shame' - you know what they say of women. Let us learn from experience. Right and wrong were distinguished long ago - and I'll tell you one thing that is right: a man should mind his own business. I do not doubt that your wife is the most beautiful of women, so for goodness' sake do not ask me to behave like a criminal."

Thus he did his utmost to decline the king's invitation, because he was afraid of what might happen if he accepted it.

The king, however, told him not to distress himself. "There is nothing to be afraid of," he said, "either from me or my wife. I am not laying a trap for you; and as for her, I promise she will do you no harm. I'll manage so that she doesn't even know that you have seen her. Look: I will hide you behind the open door of our bedroom. My wife will follow me in to bed. Near the door there's a chair - she will put her clothes on it as she takes them off, one by one. You will be able to watch her with perfect ease. Then, while she's walking away from the chair towards the bed with her back to you, slip away through the door - and mind she doesn't catch you."

Gyges, since he was unable to avoid it, consented, and when bedtime came, Candaules brought him to the room. Presently the queen arrived, and Gyges watched her walk in and put her clothes on the chair. Then, just as she had turned her back and was going to bed, he slipped softly out of the room. Unluckily, the queen saw him.

At once she realized what her husband had done. But she did not betray the shame she felt by screaming, or even let it appear that she had noticed anything. Instead she silently resolved to have her revenge. [...] For the moment she kept her mouth shut and did nothing; but at dawn the next morning she sent for Gyges after preparing the most trustworthy of her servants for what was to come. There was nothing unusual in his being asked to attend upon the queen; so Gyges answered the summons without any suspicion that she knew what had occurred on the previous night.

"Gyges," she said, as soon as he presented himself, "there are two courses open to you, and you may may take your choice between them. Kill Candaules and seize the throne, with me as your wife; or die yourself on the spot, so that never again may your blind obedience to the king tempt you to see what you have no right to see. One of you must die: either my husband, the author of this wicked plot; or you, who have outraged propriety by seeing me naked."

For a time Gyges was too astonished to speak. At last he found words and begged the queen not to force him to make so difficult a choice. But it was no good: he saw that he really was faced with the alternatives, either of murdering his master, or of being murdered himself. He made his choice - to live.

"Tell me," he said, "since you drive me against my will to kill the king, how shall we set on him?"

"We will attack him when he is asleep," was the answer; "and on the very spot where he showed me to you naked."

All was made ready for the attempt. The queen would not let Gyges go or give him a chance of escaping the dilemma: either Candaules or he must die. Night came, and he followed her into the bedroom. She put a knife into his hand, and hid him behind the same door as before. Then, when Candaules was asleep, he crept from behind the door and struck.

Thus Gyges usurped the throne and married the queen.

THE MORAL

Candaules underestimates his wife even if he admires her beauty.Also in my opinion he thinks that she isn't as clever as he is and so she would never realise that Gyges had been watching her while naked. This can be confirmed by the fact that he shows off to Gyges talking about her only as a beautiful object that he owns.

Now, his wife not acting at all as an object but making us realise how intelligent she is, shows her power to people being both elegant and female.She is the one that tells Gyges to kill her husband for her and then become king by marrying her or else he would be executed.He chose to do the first one not wanting to die and so everyone lived happily ever after...???As for herself I think she just wanted someone that she could use...

The moral is that showing your power by being vain, doing such things to others and actually use them will harm you.Also that if you do something really bad to someone, the action will return to you in a negative way that you aren't going to like..So don't do things to others that you don't want to be done to you by them.

One World, One Promise, One Good Turn

This year I haad the best holidays ever.The first thing I enjoyed was going to Fokies,a place by the sea,where I stayed with my friends(we were five girls)!We were all alone no parents and so we could return late at night,drink alcohol(we didn't drink much)and go whenever we wanted to the beach!!It was an awssume experience that I would like to live next year too..Secondly I went for another year to Thassos but this time it was different..My cousin and his wife were there too and they had their daughter with them.You should see how sweet she is!!

Finally I went to my last scout camp(last because this year I'm becoming a senior scout) and also to the 1st jamboree of northern-eastern Europe..We met scouts from Albania,Montenegro,Romania and Bulgaria..It was just amazing although the comunication was difficult!We had to speak in English for them all to understand but when the conversation was around scouting subjects it was almost impossible...Also for us,scouts,this year was unique because 100 years ago Baden Powel the founder of scouting organised the first scout camp in Brownsea island!!

Everyone here in Greece is really moved of the situation..64 have already died.And not just in Peloponnissos where the majority of the villages is in great danger if not already burned but even here in Macedonia we are terrified of the conciquences that will follow not only to the climate change but also to the disappearance of rare animals that lived in these forests and everything as well as the fact that all these people whose houses don't exist anymore won't have a place to leave and the money they will be given aren't as much as we think.

Directed by David Frankel, "the devil wears prada" is a movie made for fashion-lovers!It lasts 2 hours full of stylish skirts, beautiful dresses and shoes of course..But it's not only that;it's also a romantic comedy that delivers the message that our life is what we choose.Only by mentioning Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway I think you can imagine how enjoyable this movie must be like..

It's about Andy Sachs(Hathaway)a young woman with no idea in fashion that is hired by the biggest magasin in New York to work as one of the two personal assistants of the Runway's (the name of the magasin) editor, a cruel and merciless woman(Streep).Will she get on well with the top model look alike staff???And will she change at all?Just watch it!!

I loved it from the first minute till the very last one!It wasn't just a fashion movie(a subject that would be very interesting on it's own), but it's also full of romance and of course funny moments!! Secondly,the plot was very good if not great and very clever.Also what I enjoyed a lot was the acting.Meryl Streep really got into the role of Miranda Priestly and made her seem even more mean and selfish than I expected her to be. Anne Hathaway just proved right all those who have said that she is a brilliant actress....Lastly it would be a shame if I didn't mention the well-fit music and the fashion part that looked amazingly real.

I recommend it to all of you, children and adults but most of all to teenagers(especially girls). You'll love everything, including famous designers' shoes and clothes.And remember:life is the choices we make!

LEARNING USING AUDIO BOOKS

Last week I had a conversation with a friend of mine about audio books and how you can learn by listening to a story...Her opinion was that audio books are just a waste of time and they don't help at all in learning English..

Well, I don't agree at all with her!I've listened to 2 audio books(The pocket and the pendant & Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone) since now and I can say I'm impressed. I thought it would be boring and that it wouldn't help me improve my English.I was totally wrong.Good quality audio books are trully something that should be used by all teachers everywhere.Students not only entertain themselves a lot,but they also want more and more audio books to listen to.
What should also be noticed is that(especially about students that are a bit stressed of time) every chapter lasts 30 minutes the longest.Undersanding the meaning, but also learning the language becomes even more easy if you read the book at the same time.You have the chance to see new words, underdstand their meaning but also listen how they are pronounced.In some audio books there is also music that can turn a boring page of reading into a mysterious and even extreme experience....

So for all of you, parents mainly, that think audio books aren't helping at all your children and that instead of this they should do boring grammar exercises only, I hope that now that you've read this post you will automatically change your opinion.

"Babel", a movie with social content didn't impress me at all.It lasted almost 2 hours and a half and I can't say I didn't get bored.Only imagine that I almost slept in the first 10 minutes even if Brad Pitt starred in it.

The plot did confuse me very much.It was about four different families, an American, a Maroccan, a Mexican and a Japanese.They all deal with problems that don't seem to be combined at all but in the end we find out that there is a very strange connection between them.It was very difficult for me to understand this connection but what I think is that the film was made to express the idea that we are all the same.

As I pretold you, I didn't like it because first of all it was so long.I found it very confusing and really weird.Of course lots of my friends liked it very much because it has a special meaning but even if I share their opinion in the last part it wasn't what I expected to see.In many parts it reminded me of some documentaries and in some other parts it reminded me of some very bad quality movies.

On the other hand, I liked the fact that Brad Pitt acted as a very different character from all the other roles he has played since now and also I liked that for the first time in my life a movie did make me think about its meaning and the idea that is expressed through it for so long.

I recommend it to adults and teenagers(16 & 17 years old) because they won't get bored and will eventually understand the meaning and the idea expressed.I don't recommend it to children because it isn't a cartoon and they won't enjoy it at all...

“Sleepless in Seattle” or should I say “the movie that can do wonders for your sleeping problems”…Watching that film helped me relax and relax and relax.The only problem was that I dind’t want to sleep while watching it. It lasts for ages and don’t believe anyone that tells you it lasts 1 hour and a hlf.

It is about a widower named Sam that moves to Seattle after his wife’s death. He can’t sleep at nights thinking of her and of course he can’t move on to a new relationship. On Christmas night his son,Jonah,calls a radio talk show to talk about his father’s problems and to find him a wife..And then the man starts talking and talking for many hours on air. Then comes the other character, a woman that is just engaged but not very sure about that, that is listening to this conversation while driving back home..She starts falling in love with this guy, she thinks he is her destiny and she tries to find him.Eventually they meet and end up together…

Isn’t it boring?First of all the plot is in two words silly and dull. It’s one of these stupid comedies that don’t really have a plot.It doesn’t describe real life, it’s like a fairy tale. Man-depressed, woman-not sure about relationship, they fall in love and get together.And it’s not only that it is stupid but really, how many people get together and have a real relationship when they have just met???And when I say unreal I really mean it.How easy could be for an-almost husband- to say ok when he is asked by his-almost-wife to break up?Because in the film Annie’s husband is very OK with the whole situation when Annie tells him about Sam, a guy that really loves but hasn’t met at all.She tells him she doesn’t want to marry him and that it’s wrong and the only thing he says is “if you want so, OK”…

Of course the acting was very good by Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan but really why did they choose to play in this film?I don’t know if the reason I didn’t like it was that it was filmed in 1993, but still there weren’t any special effects so we can’t use this as an excuse.The only thing I liked was their house in Seattle, because it was just in front of a lake.But could a man like Sam afford to buy a house like that??

I lastly don’t recommend it to anyone, because of all the reasons I’ve mentioned before..The only reason to watch it could be that you can’t sleep at nights or you have time to kill and when I say “kill” I really mean it!!!

"Analyze that", a movie directed by Harold Ramis is a full of action comedy that has won an ASCAP award and was even nominated for a Golden Globe.In the cast along with sveral others are Robert de Niro, Billy Crystal and Lisa Kudrow who are in a word perfect...

Ben Sobel(Billy Crystal),a psychiatrist is a man that has many problems..His parents don't want him to get married, his son often spies on his patients when they open up their heart..On the other side Paul Vitti, a mafia guy from the top ones, has to deal with his psycological problems that make him feel very nervous about the present.What will happen when the second one will ask the first for help to his problems??And how many times will he disturb him??Will poor Ben solve all his problems and will he eventually get married??And what about Paul?If all these are your questions then it's very simple..Watch the movie..

I loved it from the very first minute!Not just for the ending but for every single detail..Great plot and I'm saying this because I haven't seen a movie with a similar one.It was something different, something that made the movie along with other staf a huge success..These other things are of course the very clever dialogues written by Lonergan and Tolan,along with the stunning acting especially by Robert De Niro who plays the sensitive mafia guy but also from Billy Crystal and Lisa Kudrow,who plays the "lucky" future Mrs Sobel and who doesn't remind us at all Phoebe from "Friends"..

As a conclusion, I will recommend it to all, children and grown-ups, because it's not just a funny silly comedy, but has a deep meaning hiding underneath..

Would you have liked to live in 70's?

Watching "A WALK ON THE MOON" I wondered if I would like to live in this period...

Well,I would have liked to live in 70’s or 60's because in my opinion at this time everything was so exciting!Revolution atmosphere, not so much pollution in the air..But most of all the fact that everything was so much different from our days in the relationship between men and women part make me think that living in these years as a teenager would be very good for me as well as to the whole community.Also another thing I like about then is that people had all the technology we use today along with all the equipment to live a comfortable life. I mean that only mobile phones didn’t exist but if we don’t think about the useful part, they do us a lot of damage.

So, yes I would like and even prefer to live in 70’s for all these reasons.

Filmed in 1998 but still you can't say it's an old movie..Nominated for an Oscar and was awarded with an ASCAP award along with several other.Produced by Jerry Bruckhaimer(Pirates of the Caribbean,Pearl

 Harbor,Deja vou) and directed by Michael Bay,it lasts only 145 minutes.And I say only because you don't realise how quickly everything happens..This is because of the action scenes and the moving moments..

A meteor the size of Texas is going to hit Earth in about 18 days.Nasa has only one option.They

have to destroy it.If they don't do the whole world will be destroyed

.So they send to the asteroid Harry Stamper(Bruce Willis),an oil driller , and his whole team , including his daughter's (Liv Tyler) boyfriend (Ben Affleck).Wha

t they have to do is drop a nuclear warhead into its core..But what if something goes wrong and someone has to stay behind to save the world??...

Might be old but it still hasn't become boring to me and to so many others."Armageddon",an action but romantic movie too, is the best film I've ever seen.Marvelous acting by Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck who show their talent.Great characters and wonderful special effects.Moving moments that make you cry a lot,even though you know what is happening is just a movie.And finally stunning music,especially the song"I don't wanna close my eyes" by Aerosmith (the leader singer is Liv Tyler's dad).

What I noticed and want to share with you is that even though the story of disasterous storms and flads and alien attacks, that always happen to America, is very common, this one that has almost the same subject is much different from all the others..This has romance, humourous moments but still it doesn't become dull or stupid.

I finally want to recommend this excellent movie to all of you,even to children(I watched it for the first time when I was 7-8 years old and I really ennjoyed it).So just watch it and have fun!!(And don't forget the handkerchieves...!!)

This is a classic romantic comedy with the boy-meets-girl-boy-looses-girl-boy-gets -girl-back scenario. But it presents an interesting twist with a series of "flashbacks"that tell the story of the two lovers. Both Wilson (Alex, et al.) and Hudson (Emma, et al.) contrast nicely in their performances - one an uptight dogmatist, the other a free-style personality who seems to worry about life only when it becomes threatened. Each is allowed to display the breadth of their talents by playing different characters. Only the final scene is somewhat weak. The story offered a much better alternative to the way in which the characters could have been re-united. But thoroughly enjoyable.

This proposal outlines how the educational system could be improved according to all Greek students.It is based on what students demand from the ministry of education in order to heir sit ins and their protest.

According to what the majority of the students think, our educational system is not organised enough.In a huge number of schools there are teachers who are not educated well enough or books that are well - written.Some children have lessons in buildings that are falling down and in some other schools there is no equipment at all. Also all children have to pay for extra lessons to go through the given syllabus that is set by the ministry in order to succeed in the final exams and go to a university.This of course creates a problem for the poor students who, as a result of the current situation and the high exam grades needed, cannot get into any university.

What I should suggest you to do is first of all to increase the funding for the educational system so that it will be 5% of GPN.With this money you could build more schools and every school can be properly equipped .This money could also be used in increasing teachers numbers in schools.

Education isn’t something that can be sold.So I suggest you should also abandon your plan to make private universities legal by changing our constitution.Families pay lots of money already in extra lessons. Also private higher education’s existance would undermind the public universities.

I would suggest that you don’t turn senior high schools into EPAL or EPAS because the only thing it would do,would be to make the situation worse.That is because no student at that age (15 years old) could decide what job they would prefer to do in the future.You should not separate schools in high and low level either.As a result this would separate the students into the “clever” ones and those who are “unable to do something”.

As for the Music Schools I should recommend you to hire music teachers because there is a huge shortage and also arrange some exams so that Music school students can get a qualification when graduating from this special school.

There should be no delay in making changes in our educational system so that it becomes better.This will satisfy students,who will end their sit ins.

ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND..review

Directed by Michel Gondry“Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind” is a really weird movie.Not only because of it’s name but also and most importantly because of its strange plot.It lasts almost 2 hours, but it doesn’t get boring at all.

It’s about Joel Barish(Jim Carrey) and Clementine Kruczynsci(Kate Winslet) who fall in love and so get married. But after a few days they start fighting.And so Clementine decides to delete Joel from her mind literally..In the beginning he thinks she is just acting as if she doesn’t know him. But when he finds out the truth he decides to do the same thing..Will he change his mind during the erasing? And what if he can’t do anything about it? Well if you wonder,you just have to watch the movie..

All of it was, in a word, just great.Every single detail, every movement, everything. What I liked very much was Kate Winslet’s and Jim Carrey’s acting who were just stunning during their performance.Another huge success for both of them.Another thing I loved was the scenery,where part of the movie was filmed.I mean,I can’t remember which place it was,I think Long island,but this beach during the winter was so beautiful.Lastly I should mention the special effects too,that were used during the memory erasing.Even though it was very complicated I just loved it.

I finally recommend it to all,except young children because they won’t understand a thing..Also what I should warn you about is that because of the complicated story you have to have slept at least 2 hours before watching it, because you might fall asleep if you’re very tired.That is not because it’s not interesting but because of the fact that you won’t be able to think clearly and remember some important details.So, have fun watching it!

LAWS OF ATTRACTION....review

I liked this movie for several reasons. First, it wasn't KILL BILL--with scene after scene of killing. This delightful, sweet romantic comedy had no explosions and no one was gunned down, treated with disrespect or lack of values and morals. The only action "car chase" scene was a solo car lost in the wilds of Ireland-- funny! There were wonderful "little love messages" throughout that were not preachy, but good relationship hints that blended in great with the scenes. I only noticed because I write screenplays (romantic comedies) -- I believe the average audience viewer would have just gone with the flow of the characters and the scenes. Well done, actually. The world needs more love examples and how to do relationships properly...with respect for the individuals and honoring the space they are in at the moment. The casting was excellent for all characters! Bravo! The chemistry between the two leads felt believable, honest and real. The hero had a relationship agenda and kept going for his goal--not exactly what you are probably thinking. But it was heart-warming to experience it along with him. Overall, a well done and throughly enjoyable romantic comedy. I recommend it.

RUSH HOUR....review

Directed by Brett Ratner, Rush Hour is an action comedy with great fighting scenes and most of all Jackie Chan in another one of his fabulous movies...Also staring Chris Tucker as a really talkative detective who hates white people more than you think...

As far as for the story it's about a Chinese inspector(Chan) and a black American detective (Tucker) that try to take back a Chinese diplomat's daughter because she was kidnapped..Things get harder for them when they are informed they 'll work together.In that case Lee(Chan) considers Carter(Tucker) as someone that couldn't help him and could only bother him..On the other hand Carter hadn't worked with someone else until that day and so he wants to do everything alone...Will they solve all their problems and try to save the little Chinese girl or they'll just argue all the time about their culture differences???The only thing you have to do, to find out is just to watch it...So simple!!!

In my opinion it was a nice movie full adventure and great fighting scenes and all these crazy things Jackie Chan does...Of course it wasn't only this..As a comedy it is,it had a lot of laughing... This of course came mainly from Tucker, whose jokes really made my day!!Jokes such as why the Dalmatians have black spots??,where the answer is because a white doesn't let them be all black..Of course Lee's and Carter's roles where wonderfully played by Chan and Tucker..Including the fact that it only lasted 1 hour and a half, so that you couldn't get bored or something like this..

I finally recommend you to watch it only if you know Chinese or know how to put subtitles because everything is in Chinese..Just kidding..So, watch it.You don't anything to lose..

The first thing that comes into my mind when someone mentions this summer is one word,or should I say one place?Well this place is.... Thassos....
For those who don't know anything about Thassos, Thassos is a small island in North Aegean, as you also see in the picture..
I had a wonderful time there,staying at my aunt's house(a very traditional house),having pizzas, french fries,and ice creams for food while also swimming every day in wonderful beaches (unfortunately full of people)and going out at nights with the whole family (cousins,aunts,uncles...).Just like a traditional Greek family,don't you think???

Leaving Thassos was very hard for me,because I had to return to my house and everything would be very boring...I mean when I was there I was either in a beach with my family or somewhere out with my cousins...Isn't that wonderful???

So as a conclusion I should recommend you to visit this beautiful island if you have the opportuity...If you don't go you'll regret it,seriously!!!!

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN I OR 2????

I really loved Pirates of the Caribbean:The curse of the black pearl when I first watched it, so when I learnt that another film would be filmed I was really looking forward to watch it.(Pirates of the Caribbean:The dead man's chest)...Something that made me think a lot was whether the second one would be better than the first one...I heard a lot of opinions from friends of mine and read lots of reviews about the film...Some of them told me that it was awsume,some others told me it was awful...And so I watched it!!!I can't say I was amazed because I expected something else..Some days after I realised that it wasn't what I expected because it was no more a Disney movie..I mean in the first one there was the typical story of a mad pirate, and a couple that finally gets together...In the second one all of these is gone,I mean I didn't expected that Jack(Johnny Depp)would be so"pirate"(care only about himself)and would be "in love" with Elizabeth(Keira Knightley) or that Elizabeth would be so selfish and would treat Jack like this...Of course there was a lot of fun and amazing acting by all the actors and stunning fight scenes..SO AFTER ALL THESE THOUGHTS I REALISED THAT BOTH MOVIES WERE OUTSTANDING AND JUST AMAZING...Now I look forward to the last one!!!!!!

WAR OF THE WORLDS..review

Last night, full of curiosity I watched “The War of the Worlds” by Steven Spielberg with Tom Cruise,the one that was filmed in 2005.Some people told me it was awful and boring but some friends of mine told me it was absolutely amazing.I can say it was nice..

Earth is under attack by aliens that drink people’s blood..How disgusting?!While all this is happening, Ray, a divorced man,tries to save not only himself,but also his daughter, Dakota Fanning, and his son,Justin Chatwin.Will they all survive in the end? Watch the movie to find out.You don’t have anything to lose..

So, why did I like it?I liked very much the plot although it remind me a lot, of other movies that describe other disasters in America, just like floods, hurricanes, alien attacks and the like .I think it was well acted especially by Tom Cruise and young Dakota Fanning, who is actually now 12 years old..The special effects were great too as you’ll see.What I didn’t like was that it was disgusting in some parts, with all this blood and killing....

SERENITY...review

Directed and written by Joss Whedon,Serenity is a science fiction, adventure movie.It was made in 2005 and it lasts about 2 hours.Summer Glau stars as River and Nathan Fillion as Mal.

River Tam and her brother Simon,Sean Maher, are hiding out from the totalitarian government that experimented with River's brain aboard the space-freighter Serenity. Captained by a down on his luck, no faith soldier, the crew of Serenity must take jobs (legal or not) while avoiding the Alliance, and keeping the Tams safe. But when things get out of hand with the true extent of River's powers, the Alliance sends a new Operative to make sure what River knows doesn't get out. How will the crew of Serenity deal with this new threat? And what exactly does River know that the Operative is willing to kill for?

What I liked about it was the way the future was presented by the movie’s creators.Although dangerous it will be exciting according to the film…Also I liked the acting, especially by Summer Glau, who played River, a seventeen year old girl that could deal with an army if she wanted, but at the same time she was very sweet.Lastly I liked the whole idea and the ending especially when they leave earth not chased by anyone.

The only thing I didn’t go crazy about was that it remind me a bit of the Star Wars movies, although it was much, much better than them.

I lastly recommend this movie to everyone especially to those who prefer action films, including children.

In one of the lessons in my school we choose a musical instrument to learn.There are many options, just like piano, guitar, violin and other classical instruments.Actually telling the truth we can learn from bagpipes to drums.So when it was my turn to choose,I chose greek traditional "drums" just like toumpeleki, daire, mpentir, rek, ntaouli and other......

Just for your information all of them except toumpeleki, are greek traditional instruments, that actually exist from Ancient Greece.As for toumbeleki we know the arabian toumbeleki and the egyptian one.In Greece something similar to these is dabla that is an instrument usually played in Greek islands.

A slice of heaven right here on earth, "Amelie" is a joy to behold, and has some of the most gorgeous cinematography I've ever seen in a movie.

Audrey Tatou is perfection as the title character. A combination of Audrey Hepburn, Dolly Levi and Roger Rabbit, she involves herself in the world surrounding her as a means of really enjoying living. There are moments when she finds complete and total joy just walking down the street. Some of it is hilarious, too..like when her pet goldfish habitually tries to commit suicide, or when she is on the telephone with the man at the porno shop, or when a character is asked "Are you a congenital shmuck"? But for the most part, its a human comedy, about love, of course. Just beautiful. 10/10.

SKY CAPTAIN: A COMIC BOOK STORY THAT COMES TO LIFE....review

This is a comic book story that truly comes to life. The entire movie has an surreal color tint. A mix of Indiana Jones, James Bond and a little Ernest P. Worrell blended into an action packed flick that plays well as a Saturday matinée or as a late night goodie. The entire production is CG with the actors seemingly superimposed. There are scenes that are obviously meant to be comic book gender whereas other scenes are quite realistic in appearance and intent. Gwyneth Palrow as Polly Perkins and Jude Law as Sky Captain play off each other extremely well. Anjelina Jolie is just OK in her role.

This is an atypical 'save the world from disaster' film which takes SKY and Pretty Polly to far away places with strange sounding names beautiful and eerie. I believe the Disney production 'Tron' was the first film that used CG in a way never seen before but this little treat transforms CG into an entirely new art form. The film presents as if it were a pleasing dream which one would like to remember after awakening.

OPERA LA BOHEME:AN UNFORGETABLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!

I'm a student in Thessaloniki's Music school.Our school choir is very famous in Greece and especially in Thessaloniki,as we have won many medals in competitions.So we were invited to play in an Opera,La boheme, that was written by Giacommo Puccini.The rehearsals would start in January and the premiere would be in the 12th of February.I must say it was an unforgetable expeience!!!!We were there every day for at least a month and for more than 6 hours a day......When it was over it was really hard for me to get used to the real life........

No matter what people said about Alex I knew he was a true friend, and a really great guy, and you’ll be glad to hear that he is still the same. This is the incident I’ll remember with affection because it proved to me that Alex was a really nice person that enjoyed helping people.

I was looking forward to the school trip at the end of the year in Athens and the day we had all expected,the day on which we’d all pay, came in March. At long last we would definitely go.During the break, after a long hour of Geography, me and Alex found some money. The next hour when almost ready to sleep as we had Physics with the same boring, awful teacher. Sudenly, we heard a scream.George, a rich, arrogant boy that thought he was the centre of the world, started shouting and the only thing I could understand from what he said was something about some money and the school trip.After asking his friends, I realised with horror that he was blaming Alex for stealing some money from his bag. As he said Alex was the last one that was seen at the "crime scene", so he must have been the thief.I quickly stood up and tried to defend my best friend and I think I overstepped the mark . So before I knew what was happening I was with Alex and George in the headmaster’s office making excuses to the strict principal, about something we really hadn’t done;

-“They, stole my money. And do you know why?Because they are jealous of me.Everyone is jealous of me.So decide what his punishment will be “,

he said pointing at Alex,

“or I’ll call my dad immediately…”,

he said strictly as if he was the president of the U.S.A.

-“Well I was thinking of “

-“I did it”, Alex lied.”I stole the money, not her”, he continued.

-“Alex no!”, I tried to make him stop.

-“Don’t lie just to rescue me.”,he told me loudly and before I could reply he told the principa lin a calm way

:”I’m ready to listen to the punishment Mr Brown”.

-“Well, I’ve thought about it all this hour and I’ve decided that you’ll leave this school when the school year is over…and I won’t listen to another word you’ say.Now..”

-“But this is not fair”, I interrupted him almost crying.

-“I don’t want your oppinion young lady…”,he answered.

”Now,as I was saying, go immediately to your classroom!”,he gave us an order.

During the following days everyone was really cold to me, but even more to Alex. Fortunately, at the end of the year Alex got a second chance from the Students’ council and now I’m glad to say that he’s still in my school and we’ve become best friends who defend each other when there is need.

CLEAN MONDAY

Clean Monday,or as we call it here in Greece"kathara deftera",is the first day of Great Lent. It's called clean because Christians are called upon to begin the holy season with “clean hearts and good intentions.” It is also because the season of Lent is regarded as a time for when Christians should clean up their spiritual house, coming to terms with their lives and rededicating themselves to a more holy and righteous way of living.

On this day, what we do is usually fly kites and having picknicks, eating only seafood(octopus, fish), lagana, taramas and phasolada,halvas and other traditional greek food...

Everyone loves Clean Monday because schools are closed.Shops, except the tavernes and the restaurants, where Greeks usually eat,are closed too...

Well, that day this year was really fun for me...I woke up at 11 o'clock and we went out with my whole family to eat in a taverna.Then after that we went to Hatzis, a shop where we ate ice cream, although we shouldn't according to the tradition..Never mind, after that we returned home and I watched TV all evening...How wonderful!!!!Unfotunately we didn't fly a kite......

Born on January 13, 1977 in Canterbury, England.In the beginning he wanted to become a footballer but when they told him he didn't have the skills he thought of becoming an actor. "Once I realized that I could be Superman or I could be The Hustler or I could be Daniel Day Lewis's character in The Last Of The Mohicans - I was like, "Man, I can become an actor and be all of those things." In 1993, he moved to London to improve his career, doing bit parts in TV series like "Casualty". Orlando's first major movie role was in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, playing the ethereal elf Legolas Greenleaf, a role he received only days before graduating drama school in London. Two years later, when The Fellowship of the Ring premiered, audiences were in instant awe of the blonde haired, blue eyed elf with killer cheek bones, who was also handy with a bow and arrow. Shadowing a real life experience, his character falls from a helicopter and breaks his back.

NED KELLY
His next role was that of Joe Byrne in Ned Kelly, a historical biopic of the infamous Australian outlaw. Even though the movie had a limited release, the reviews were positive for Orlando's portrayal of Ned Kelly's right hand man.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN

Next came the swashbuckling blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, which cemented Orlando's place as the action movie "It Boy". Playing the dashing yet straight-laced blacksmith, Will Turner, Orlando won even more hearts by showing off his sword fighting skills alongside his idol, Johnny Depp, while romancing the film's heroine played by Keira Knightley.

TROY
In 2004 came another period action movie, Troy. Although the role of Paris saw Orlando again using a sword and bow, it was a departure from his past roles. Paris was an anti-hero, young and foolish at times, sacrificing all for love.

THE CALCIUM KID

Also released in 2004, although only limited in Europe, was the indie film The Calcium Kid, a mockumentary comedy about a milkman who becomes a boxer. Orlando was able to show off his comedic skills while playing a modern character, with no weapons or costumes.

Orlando's first starring role in a major production was in Kingdom of Heaven, released in 2005. Baden-Powell,the man who started this organisation,returned to England a national hero, after defending the town of Mafeking (Mafikeng as it is now spelled) for seven months from the besieging Boer troops, the first real British triumph in the Boer War. When he returned to England, he discovered that many boys and young men were avidly reading his book Aids to Scouting. This book was intended as a military training manual, teaching soldiers techniques such as observation, tracking, initiative...
When he retired in 1907,when he was 50 years old,he was asked to help to a program for boys,that after a while became a book"Scouting for boys".He decided to make a camp in Brownsea,the first scout camp.The number of the children that took part in this camp was 24.After this BP was sure that many kids would like being scouts.So scouting spread everywhere in the world and it now exists in many countries....

Athanasios Lefkaditis brought scouting in Greece in 1910.He got the idea when he asked a little scout in England what is a scout...The boy answered that a scout is someone that wants to do a good will every day.He liked this answer a lot,and so he made the first scouts team in High school Makri in Athens!!!!

Before an hour the sun was shining and now ...(as you see in the pictures)it's snowing for the second time this month...

I really like snow!It reminds me of the usual fairy tale where all the members of the family sit around the fireplace and outside it's snowing.Well,these don't happen nowadays often so it remains a thought...Another reason I like snow is because I enjoy making snowmen and through snowballs to my sister or my cousin(whoever plays with me)!Lastly and more important for all children(everyone will agree with me) is that in case that it is still snowing very much tomorrow morning we won't go to school..and we are free to watch TV,play with the snow and do whatever we like..Isn't it wonderful???

MY GRANDFATHER

My grandfather, Nikos Pourpouris, is now in his eighties.He was born in Pentapoli, a village near Serres, ten years before the beginning of the Second World War.He had difficult times when he was a child, because of the war.He had to stop going to school when he was only ten, something very painful for him.

He got married when he was twenty years old to my grandmother, a very beautiful girl who was the same age as him.They had five children but only the two of them survived, my mother, Antigoni,and my aunt Kaiti.

When my mother was only 4 years old, my grandfather, went to Germany, to work in a factory,with my grandmother. They returned after one year and then he started his own farm.Four years later they all moved to Thessaloniki, to Oraiokastro and then to Sykies.

He now has his own farm in Pentapoli, where he goes with my grandmother every summer.He grows vegetables and some kind of flowers such as roses and other things.He is very busy, something that as he says, keeps him alive…

I'm not a fan of war movies usually,but when i sat down to watch BLACK HAWK DOWN,i couldn't turn it off.Here's a war movie which doesn't sugar coat.There is no crappy dialogue,no soppy love story tie ins,just the real deal,brutal battle scenes,the gruesome reality of war.Black Hawk Down is based on a true story,the bloody battle at Somalia and it leaves one drained.Its confronting,and exposes war in its true light-there's nothing glamorous to see.In two hours and a bit the viewer is able to imagine being there at the horrible battleground,and suffering like the soldiers did.It really makes you appreciate how lucky we are to be in a free country,relatively peaceful,and not having our lives threatened every second of the day.Everything about BHD is right; the setting of the film,the Somalians,the American soldiers going through hell,the brutality,the battle,the fatalities.Not for the faint hearted,or weak stomached,but a truly powerful,compelling motion picture.

Ridley Scott takes the viewer on an imaginative journey through Black Hawk Down and appeals to our emotions.A brutal,yet bearable war film.

Directed by Jim Sheridan and produced by Noel Pearson, "MY LEFT FOOT" is a great drama full of moving moments that can even make you cry.In it, Daniel Day Lewis, Ray Mcanally and Brenda Fricker star.It got two Oscars(best actor-best supporting actor) and two Bafta awards(best actor-best supporting actress).It was outstanding!

It's based on a true story of a man who couldn't control his arms,head and right foot from the day he was born.The only limb he could control was his left foot.With this left foot,he painted wonderfully pictures and he draw.As a result he became very famous for his work.With this left foot he also wrote his biography.We see his life through this book when it's read by a woman that takes care of him on the day he presents it to public.So we watch how he falls in love,starts writing letters when nobody has taught him how and learns how to take control of his body.What will happen in the end of this great movie?Will he love and be loved by someone?Will he die alone in a poor house?Watch the movie to find out...

It was the best drama I've ever seen.I liked almost everything.First of all I liked the plot.Although it was a very sad story it had a happy ending which I enjoyed a lot.Secondly, I liked the acting very much, especially by the main actor,Daniel Day Lewis.Like some critics I agree that Lewis gives the most moving and cvonvincing perfomance of his career.

The only thing I didn't like was the melacholic feeling that existed through the whole movie,par for the course for a drama.I mean everything goes wrong for Christie.His grandmother and father die,some children think he's an idiot or sometimes they are afraid of him.Another thing I didn't like was that sometimes the movie became boring.

I recommend it to everyone,except children,that might feel really sad about Christie's fortune or even get bored because it's not a comedy.I think this movie can make people with problems like Christie's feel more optimistic by taking his example.And what is the message?Life continues...

THIS WEEK I WATCHED THREE WONDERFUL MOVIES.....................

The first one was "THE CORPSE BRIDE" which is about a guy(JOHNNY DEPP) that by his mistake he asks a dead bride to marry him and she says YES!!!!!!!!

The second one I watched is"BROTHERS GRIMM"which is about brothers Grimm and how the try to save a village by an evil witch.(MATT DAMMON-HEATH LEDGER)

The third one was "THE CRONICLES OF NARNIA-THE LION,THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE" which is about four children that try to save Narnia(a country in their wardrobe!) from an evil witch using the help of a lion......

Directed by George Lucas and produced by Francis Ford Coppola, American Graffiti is an old classic movie that I liked a bit. In this quite good movie we can watch Harisson Ford in the beginning of his career.Also we can watch Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Suzanne Somers, Cindy Williams, Wolfman Jack and Mackenzie Phillips. It was awarded an Academy Award and it was voted the first one of the American Film Institute’s top 100 films………..

Mainly its story was about some teenagers and their last day in summer before going to college.In this last day as “children” they have fun by going to parties and other stuff like this.They also try to think responsibly about everything they discuss or do(in the end this becomes rediculous because they seem stupid when they try to look and think like adults).

What I liked in this film was some of its music(especially the part when all the students were dancing).Secondly I liked the main idea about the story although I didn’t understand some details…Thirdly I liked this 60’s style although the movie’s creators didn’t do anything for it since it was filmed in 60’s.Lastly what I liked about this film was its acting.The actors seemed really like teenagers,ready to become adults,ready to “grow up”.

Mainly what I didn’t understand was its story,that was very complicated and there was no one to put things into the right order or explain in a way what was happening.That was the only thing (very important thing)I didn’t understand.

I recommend the movie for adults and teenagers but not for children.It’s a nice and good classic movie but I believe children cannot understand what’s happening and they’ll get bored soon after the beginning.

This is one of those really great dramas that only come around maybe once a year. This is my pick for the best drama of 2000. Filled with amazing characters, a great plot, and circumstances that seem too real, the wonderfully underplayed value of it takes precedence over anything set against it.

There are some great performances here, so let's get to ‘em.

Jamie Bell plays the lead role, in an astonishing performance. Amazing dance routines done in perfect sync, I can just imagine the time he had memorizing all the steps. A knockout performance, with some of the most dramatic scenes played out with perfect honesty and realism.

Another notable performance comes from Julie Walters, who plays Mrs. Wilkinson, the dance instructor in the mining town where Billy lives. Once a great dancer but now forced to work in the bottom floor of a boxing hall, she plays her part wonderfully, showing the lack of compassion and jadedness without words but only through expressions, deep hurt lying beneath all that scorn, but love shining through as she sees Billy's true talent.

Finally, performance wise, we have Gary Lewis, who plays Billy's father. With wonderful scenes that play themselves out with harsh reality, I never tire of seeing the hurt in his eyes when he sees that his little boy isn't going to be a boxer or a football player, but a dancer, then seeing him again with the love and appreciation for his dancing son. Some things must be experienced, and the deep hurt he carries about the death of his wife is one of those. Greatness all around.

Billy Elliot is a true rag-to-riches story that unfolds amazingly well without pulling your heartstrings shamelessly as other movies love to do. I recommend this to all, expect to be entertained with great plot twists as well as interesting characters, wonderful dialogue, and a story that can never grow old: Follow your dreams.

BLUES BROTHERS ONE OR TWO??

Recently I watched both movies(blues brothers 1 and 2).What I say is that I liked more the second one.It was better than the first one in many ways..........................

First of all it was funnier and not as sad as the first one was.....,in a way.

Secondly the special effects were better this time(the second one was filmed 18 years later so we can explain it).

Thirdly it was much happier....I mean the first one was "dark" in a way.

This is my favorite song.It’s sang by Avril Lavigne and it’s about a selfcenter, rich girl that falls in love with a skater boy that is exactly the opposite of her.In the beginning she doesn’t show her feelings because her friends don’t think he’s good for her,but after five years when they see he’s become a rock star they change their mind.And so in the end the boy and the girl,she understands her mistakes,say their feelings and everything is fine.

I love this song because it’s rock and pop and I also like the story and this happy ending very much!

The film was brilliant.What I really liked was its acting,its very good acting,especially the acting by Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson,which I didn't expect.Also, the film had a great plot.Even if it wasn't full of action it was nice,funny-in a way-comedy which made me relax.Thirdly I liked a lot the fact that it was filmed in Japan and not in England or America for one more time.Lastly I ved its music that was really suitable for th movie.

I am a student in Pylaia’s Music School here in Thessaloniki.It’s a great school.It’s big and has many facilities,just like particular classes for chemistry and physics.Also there is a gym outside the main building.The classrooms are big and half of them have a piano in them.These are for the music lessons we do(theory of music,singing lessons,history of music,lesson of an instrument we choose and other).

We have 9 hours of lessons a day and before the three last we have lunch for half an hour.The hours are the only distructing thing because we all return home at 4 or even 5 o’clock.
